Chicks who rip

A big shout-out to my peeps Jill and Andrea. This last Sunday, Jill (The Bean) graduated from Larimer County Search and Rescue Base Training. She put in four grueling months of Wednesday night classes and weekend field operations, including rapelling, carrying litters, learning to tie a bazillion knots, and night navigation. All this on top of her regular job as a special-ed middle school teacher and keeping up with her very busy canine massage business (if your doggie needs a rubbin’, you gotta see her!). She’s been donating her time and massage services to the Search and Rescue Dogs of Colorado (SARDOC) team for several years now, and her next step is to raise up a pup to be a SAR dog.

Andrea (Bam Bam) graduated from the Fort Collins Police Department’s Field Training program this last Monday and is now an officially fully-fledged badge-carrying member of the FCPD. Starting with police academy last fall, Officer Bam Bam has been grinding it out on the streets, in the classroom, and getting karate-chopped and pepper-sprayed in the hand-to-hand combat training ever since. It’s an unbelievably intense regimen, mentally and physically.

I am so proud of these two women and so happy to call them friends! But listen, you two — you both be careful out there!
